Jordi Gálvez, Celsa Group’s European Projects Manager and global coordinator of the project, presented the project at the annual meeting of the European Commission’s TG5A expert committee in Pisa (Italy), on 17th and 18th July 2023.
The Twinghy project is funded under RFCS Big Ticket programme. The Research Programme of the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) is a European Union funding programme that supports research and innovation in the coal and steel sectors.
The Research Programme is in line with the political, scientific, and technological objectives of the Union, and complements the activities carried out in the Member States and under the existing Union Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration activities (‘Horizon Europe’). It is also aligned with EU policy objectives related to The European Green Deal, which aims to transform Europe into a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy with no net emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050.
The decarbonisation and modernisation of the steel sector is essential for this objective. Therefore, the Twinghy project was presented to the A5 Technical Group for Smart and Human Steel Factories in order to share the main aspects of the project with relevant personalities working on the decarbonization of the steel industries.
In the words of Jordi Gálvez, “being invited to participate in the expert group is of great importance for the project as it allows us to establish synergies and learning with other projects with the same green objective.”
